Graffiti Tag Tuesday: HERT

By - Tuesday, May 5th, 2015

HERT of NSF, BF and Mayhem crews is the focus of this week’s Tag Tuesday. His throws are his most recognizable work, but his handstyles are just as unique. He has a variety of different styles, and introduces hearts and other intricate embellishments into his tags, as well.

HERT grew up in Buffalo, New York. The town was small and he quickly gained notoriety as a graffiti writer. He wrote with ATAK and created a name for himself quickly. Eventually HERT moved to Pittsburgh and encountered trouble with Pennsylvania’s law enforcement. He was apparently ranked second on the City of Pittsburgh’s 10 Most Wanted Graffiti Vandals list. HERT has been arrested numerous times, and has been accused of several graffiti related charges, but continues to write. He has and continues to express his disappointment in the faulty system that has managed to disrupt his expression in the streets.

You can see HERT’s work alongside other writers like ATAK, CURVE, FALSE and KEMOS.
