Graffuturism Artist Mark Lyken and The Fine Art of Tailoring

By - Tuesday, March 6th, 2012

The Fine Art of Tailoring is a collaboration between abstract graffiti artist Mark Lyken, fashion entrepreneur Camille Lorigo of Che Camille and costumier Jennie Dear. Lyken told 12ozProphet, “We have all been involved in big projects individually in the past but wanted to come together to create a label out of love, with a real emphasis on craftsmanship. All the pieces are handmade, hand painted one-off a kinds with special attention paid to fabric choice & detail. The first thing I did was take a crash course from Camille and Jennie into how fabric handles and hangs and what does and doesn’t flatter the human form. I was careful to keep my touch light, apply my style without being overpowering. I think we have got the balance of decoration & wearability spot on.” It’s beautiful, subtle work all around. Lyken recently had a successful show called The Lonelyness Machines and has a lot more paintings to see on his website and his new album Bit Rot on iTunes. Visit their website to see more.
