Harmony Korine x Vans Syndicate
Author, screenwriter, producer, director, abstract artist and skater, Harmony Korine has collaborated with Vans Syndicate on an exclusive line of Harmony-created and influenced sneakers. The collection will be released today, March 21st, and includes Harmony’s variations on the Authentic Pro “S” and the Slip-On Pro “S.”
Korine, famed for co-writing the cult classic ’90s film Kids, surrounding the lives of sexually active, drug abusing teens in New York City during the height of the AIDS epidemic, has a distinct, contemporary take on youth and its historically dramatic and provocative nature. His works have sought to portray the messy, confused and misplaced mentality of the adolescent, and the environments that harbor these precarious lifestyles. Harmony is also well known for writing and directing the trippy and highly anticipated 2012 film, Spring Breakers, starring James Franco, Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson. The film shed satirical light on the mentality of today’s reckless, bored, and self-involved teenagers. Harmony collaborated with Opening Ceremony on a collection of clothing inspired by the film.
The Vans Syndicate x Harmony collection includes custom checkerboard print patterns. Harmony’s artwork is also featured in the footbeds on his Authentic Pro “S” and Slip-on Pro “S” styles in canvas and suede.
