Hood Times Diorama – Ghetto Miniatures by Chris Thomas

By - Monday, March 2nd, 2015

Every once in a while something pops up which exceeds my expectations. Don’t get me wrong, I love art on the street, and in the gallery, however it’s really interesting where these things collide in something like graff & scaled miniature models. Late last year a friend put me onto this upcoming show and he told me I wouldn’t be disappointed and had to come down to check it out.  Chris Thomas spent two years working on several 1:150 scale models of different ‘hoods’ painted and finished in stunning detail many of which sold to collectors. It was only up for a few days last November but made quite a lasting impression and many of the cities best writers also contributed to rooftops, streets and urban freight train yard in this impressive project.
