On October 13, CHG Circa-the Corey Helford Gallery’s new sister gallery exhibited recent work from Van Arno in “Ice Loves Rococo.”
The theme of the exhibition revolved around the Rococo period- an era of art following the excess and over decorated Baroque period. “A more informal, comic and asymmetrical spin on design, without losing any of the ‘bling’ of the Baroque,” explains Van. As evident from the exhibition’s name, the work was Rococoesque with a modern pop culture twist. Creating the insanely detailed and vivid work he is renowned for, Van contorts his human figures into extreme posture emphasizing his keen ability to create tension, form and shadow. Make sure to check out our studio visit with Van here.
Van’s work will remain on display at CHG Circa through October 27.
