In the Studio With Sonni

Presented by Converse
We visited the Brooklyn studio of Argentinian artist, Sonni to check out his process as he prepared for his recent solo show, “Boomhouse” that opened on March 7th at Everyday Mooonday in Seoul, Korea. Sonni created various works on canvas as well as sculpted wooden pieces such as his rubik installation and totem houses. During his time in Seoul, he painted three murals organized by the gallery that were well received by the community. More on Everyday Mooonday here. Upcoming, Sonni plans on taking advantage of the change in weather to be outside painting murals. He is also part of the art collective ÑEWMERICA alongside artists, Kara Walker, LNY, NDA, Icy & Sot and Mata Ruda. ÑEWMERICA currently has a show on view at Exit Room Gallery in Bushwick, on view now through April 23rd.

Sonni recently partnered with 12ozProphet and Converse to create a mural for “Wall to Wall” during Art Basel in Miami Beach. For those in the area, the wall is still running in Wynwood at W 25th st / NW 3rd Ave. Prior to our road trip to Miami, Sonni also created a boombox for TedxBrooklyn. Watch the video here.
