Jersey City Tunnels and Tracks

By - Thursday, March 31st, 2016

Deep in the bedrock, below the rapidly gentrifying streets above, lies the remains of Jersey City’s once industrial past. There are a number of options to explore down here, but today’s focus will be the tunnels.  Abandoned rail lines run through tunnels that were carved out of the mountain. The tunnels are extremely old, and look more like caves, with watering pouring out of the walls. Every so often one of these caves ends and there is a section of open sky, with vegetation growing where the tracks were. It is like some lost world down here, sheer cliffs on each side, several stories high.

Highlights of the trip included work by Acroe and Loser of the AIDS Crew, Japie HSC, Dek 2XD, Ruk PG13, Mast, Brisk, Hence, Dak, Reker, and Kurt. Distort and Beset dropped a huge Debtonation burner. And there were several West Coast heads on the check in (Slay Trolls, Sluto).
