JR Takes the Stage
Choreographing has been a totally new experience for me. The dancers became my paper and have helped me draw my vision and create new things – JR
After creating works for two hit performances with the The New York City Ballet, JR is now taking the stage to collaborate and choreograph a performance with it’s ballerinas. The artist worked with Woodkid, and performer Lil Buck to compose original music, expanding on his previous efforts. The piece, currently untitled, is inspired by JR’s personal experience in France during the 2005 Paris riots – during this time he pasted photos of French youth around the streets effected by the riots. We are looking forward to experiencing the performance
Tickets for upcoming performances can be purchased online here.
To celebrate the upcoming pièce d’occasion , “The Eye of New York City Ballet” has now been released as a print sized at 24 x 32 inches (61 x 81.3 cm) and printed in 4-color, on 10 pt. C1S Tango cover paper, which can be ordered exclusively at the NYCB online shop.
Not only is JR conquering New York, he is also currently facilitating the traveling photo-booth of Inside Out: Au Pantheon! The photo-booth truck is traveling around Paris collecting portraits which will be gathered and installed in the dome of the Pantheon. Not to worry if you’re not in Paris, you can submit a photo online to be included in the installation happening in April. (English site coming soon).
