Kanye West releases “Season” zine of his Autumn/Winter 2015 collection with Adidas
Following the recent drop of the YEEZY BOOST shoe, Kanye West has released photos of his first collection with Adidas, in zine form. Love him or hate him, this drop is pretty rad and the photographs are stunning. We’re all about zines, and this one is killer. All photos were taken by fine-art photographer, Jackie Nickerson. The collection features some extraordinarily dark materials, in both senses of the word, as well as some unforgettable, gnarly nude shots.
The collection is reminiscent of Neo’s wardrobe in The Matrix (not the leather-clad, sunglasses wearing, “too cool for school” Trinity and Neo, but the “real world,” holey, worn-down knitted sweaters Morpheus and Nebuchadnezzar crew). Does Kanye live in the matrix…or the slimey, machine-controlled real world?
(I have always wanted this sweater.)
West described the collection as the world’s first ”solutions-based” clothing line, claiming that it “matches the relentless pace of contemporary lives.” Considering the collection’s uncanny resemblance to the actual, non-matrix world outfits of Keanu Reeves, I think he may be right.
Kanye has certainly evolved since his A.P.C. Hip-Hop t-shirt days. This collection is definitively more evolved than that particular collaboration with A.P.C.. Remember when Balmain denied Kanye and his posse entry to their Paris fashion week show? Look at you now, Kanye. All up in Paris fashion week.
“You take the blue pill—the story ends, you wake up in your bed and drop your Adidas collection. You take the red pill—you remain in Paris fashion week, and Louis Vuitton shows you how deep the rabbit hole goes. Remember: all they’re offering is the truth.”
