LA Mural Ordinance Community Discussion With Shepard Fairey & Saber

By - Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

A community discussion will take place on February 7th at the LALA Gallery that is sure to give the LA public art scene some momentum in the closing weeks of the City Council’s proposed Mural Ordinance. Basically, the LA City Council want to make the production of murals illegal, even on private property, seeing them as being not dissimilar to comercial signage. In attendance will be Saber and Shepard Fairey, two of LA’s most prized street artists, lending their famed hands once again to this cause. We all remember Saber’s sky bombing protest project, where hired five jet planes to sky write over City Hall and downtown Los Angeles is to bring awareness to his view on how ridiculous he thinks a moratorium on public art is. The discussion will involve the public along with City Council members and is to be the final public hearing in regards to the matter. If you are in the area and down to support a good cause then head to: LALA Gallery 1335 Willow St. Los Angeles, CA. 90021 (Enter on Santa Fe, next to Villain’s Tavern) 7th of February, 7-9pm Source: Jet-set Graffiti Photos: LA Times , Jet-set Graffiti & Juxtapoz
