Pittsburgh native Mac Miller ends what was a roller coaster ride of a year on an high note after being named the Complex Magazine’s Man of Next Year. The young rapper had more than his share of controversy during 2012 the highlight being a recently settled law suit by Lord Finesse for 10 million dollars. Despite being the first independent artist to reach the top spot on the Billboard charts since Tha Dogg Pound, the debut was not well received by critics and Miller admits that the harsh criticism took a toll on him and he soon became addicted to promethazine (aka the Lean) “I was not happy and I was on lean very heavy.” He goes on to discuss how he feels the criticism against him was unfair, how he kicked his lean habit and stepping up his skills. Check out the full interview and The Man of Next Year Week series over on Complex.
