Madvillainy 2: The Madlib Remix Box Set RE ISSUE with Old School Comic and More!

Stones Throw released a new amazing Re-Issue boxset for Madvillainy 2: The Madlib Remix, an album that was originally made for Madlib’s personal listening collection. The album is composed of 25 remixes by Madlib. As usual, Madlib’s beats are super fresh, a nice labyrinth of his jazz-soul and psyche-funk work perfectly skewed to make your your head knock.

Included in this new box set is a double LP with a cover by Jeff Jank and photographed by Eric Coleman, a download card, plus a new limited edition 12-page comic.

James Reitano of TFU Studios, produced the classic 1970’s comic style animation for the widely celebrated Madvillain “ALL CAPS” video. The concept for the comic included in the boxset was to pick up where the ALL CAPS video left off. As you can see, the comic will retain the oldschool comic book feel, including all of the aesthetically pleasing illustration, as well as a letters page with a real letter.

Also new from Stones Throw, Eric Coleman dropped very limited portrait prints including Doom and Madlib with an assortment of other amazing artists.
Below is Eric Coleman’s shot of Madvillain which was used as the CD album cover for Madvillainy 2: The Madlib Remixes.

The box set was from 2008 and none of that information is correct.  They released the album on MP3, CD and Vinyl formats and the cd and vinyl come with the comic and thats it.  All that other stuff is from the way back.

Good looks on the edit check, twas a bit excited bout the reissue I skewed the product list to my liking I guess. All is better now.

Oh and those who love Doom must love Dilla, so get this- read some news about all of these unreleased tapes and production notes found in a Detroit record store owners’ abandoned storage unit. 7,000-8,000 records, notebooks, notes, a box of original beat tapes, letters and other handwritten artifacts by J Dilla returned to Ms.Yancey [ his mother ] to keep. .... and tape-wise, hopefully to release!
