Preview: Maurice Sendak Retrospective at the AFA Gallery in NYC

For the 84th Anniversary of his birth, the AFA Gallery in New York has announced that it will be having an exhibition in memory of the late Maurice Sendak opening this Saturday, June 9th. Famous for his 1963 creation “Where The Wild Things Are”, Maurice Sendak was also a prolific artist who created many children’s television programs and painted sets for award winning opera’s and ballets. The retrospective will feature about 50 of Sendak’s original artworks including drawings, conceptual art, published pieces and a bronze sculpture “Wild Thing” (2009) that had been created in collaboration with AFA gallery director Nicholas Leone.
The AFA Gallery is located at 54 Greene Street, in SoHo, New York City.
