MISHKA NYC and POPaganda exclusive ZUMIEZ Capsule 2015
Ron English, innovative street and fine artist and owner of the clothing brand, POPaganda has teamed up with Mishka NYC to create a collection only available at Zumiez. Ron, Greg Rivera (owner of Mishka NYC) and L’amour Supreme (illustrator and designer) have been friends for a couple of years and had only flirted with the idea of a collaboration until recently.
The collection features graphics of well known designs from both brands, such as MC super-sized and the grizzly bear, fused together in grotesque forms true to the styles of POPaganda and Mishka. The line contains graphic t-shirts, hats, sweatshirts, sticker packs and socks. It is available now at your nearest Zumiez location and online.
Ron English has been a street artist since the early 1980s. He became well-known for “culture jamming”; the act of changing an advertising billboard to display one’s political or social views in a manner that seems original to the billboard. Ron currently has a mural running on the Bowery wall in New York City.
Mishka was created in Brooklyn, 2003 by Mikhail Bortnik and Greg Rivera. It was influenced by: street art, punk, hip hop, and the diy attitude of the 80’s. Mishka NYC aims to challenge the norms of society through their graphic characters (illustrated by L’amour) and through the cuts of their clothing which ranges from classic to abstract.
