Mixtape Monday (Throwback Edition): 50 Cent – 50 Cent is the Future

By - Monday, June 3rd, 2013

For this edition of Mixtape Monday we are taking you back to 2002, before Fifty created his own “formula” for success and cashed in with Vitamin Water, back when the mixtape movement was really beginning to pop off and still included moving major street units, which Fifty definitely did. In coming up through the mixtape circuit, 50 Cent moved shrewdly and with the same cunning business instincts he has always displayed. He was savvy enough to know what was hot, and talented and “G” enough to do it better. On 50 Cent is the Future, 50 Cent and his G-Unit disciples remixed songs from artists like Mobb Deep and Jay-Z with their own thuggish tendencies. The tape was recorded while Fifty was recovering from his notorious shooting, while simultaneously being blacklisted by labels and studios in the United States. The strength of 50 Cent is the Future and his proven success in the mixtape game led to 50 Cent signing a $1 Million dollar deal with Shady Records. From there the rest is a well known, almost mythological, history. He got shot 9 times, came back, and conquered the world. And for that Fifty we salute you. Download 50 Cent – 50 Cent is the Future
