Mixtape Mondays: Tree – Sunday School II: When Church Lets Out

By - Monday, May 20th, 2013

This week’s Mixtape Monday comes to you from Chicago rapper Tree and his new mixtape Sunday School II: When Church Lets Out. Recently, Tree has made waves in the Chicago Rap scene and hip hop blog-o-sphere for his skills as both a producer and an MC. The unique sound he claims invention of, and refers to as “soul trap,” is raw, hard hitting and emotional. To be painfully obvious and probably unfair, soul trap is a distinct mix and expansion on two other Chicago natives, Kanye West (pre 808s) and Chief Keef. Soulful and hoodrich, conscious and ignorant, Tree delivers a sound representative of his city’s musical and cultural diversity. Sunday School II is chock full cuts I’ve had on nonstop repeat since the tape dropped. It’s definitely worth your time to download and take a complete listen. Check below for a download link and a sample of Tree’s soul trap creation. Download Sunday School II: When Church Lets Out here
