MoCA: Art in the Streets ReCap

By - Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

MoCA’s “Art in the Streets” exhibition kicked off last Thursday night with a private party and opening reception for the artists participating, their friends and an assortment of VIP guests. The atmosphere was electric and everyone was excited about how well all the various efforts came together. The show was truly a milestone event and we have little doubt that other major cities will follow up with Graffiti and Street Art retrospects of their own. Seeing all of the artists come together and pull off something this ambitious was an amazing thing to witness. Watching graf pioneers like Corn Bread mingling with art legends like Patti Astor or local celebrities like Drew Barrymore catching up on recent events with street art superstars like Shepard Fairey was certainly something to behold. With the help of skate legend and artist Lance Mountain, there was even a skate demo put on at the entrance to the exhibition featuring the talents of the Nike SB team. The night ended with a convoy of food trucks parked out front, compliments of MoCA. No better way to end an amazing experience than free food and drink.
