MoMA PS1 “Sunday Sessions” With Afrika Bambaataa

Recently, MoMA PS1 had a retrospective for the highly influential musical group Kraftwerk, who helped to mold the framework for what Hip-Hop and modern day electronic music would become. Their unique and progressive style of looping and mechanized rythyms helped Kraftwerk define some of the most common sounds we hear sampled today. In celebration of this retrospective, PS1 will be holding the last of their Sunday Sessions in the performance dome featuring DJ Afrika Bambaataa, whose classic “Planet Rock” was formulated out of Kraftwerk samples. Past performances have included Greg Wilson, Questlove, DJ Harvey. Tickets are on sale here for ten dollars beforehand, otherwise it will be fifteen dollars at the door.
