Mountain Dew and New York Art Department “Prohibition: New York City”

September 13th, Mayor Bloomberg’s proposed soda ban, is being brought to NYC Borad of Health for a final verdict. In response, Mountain Dew and the New York Art Department joined forces for a city wide campaign titled “Prohibition: New York City.” Their campaign is a consciousness raising effort to demonstrate the absurdity of limiting soda sizes below 16 ounces. The image of a faux 17 ounce Mountain Dew can featuring the original “wave” logo of the ‘70s and ‘80s is repeated in street advertisements with a tag-line referencing the prohibition era of the 1920’s. Spread the word through Instagram by photographing the campaign and tagging #dewyorkcity!
