Mr. Brainwash and Google Music Sued by Famous Photographer Over Copyright Infringement

The estate of James J. Marshall has sued Mr. Brainwash and Google Music over allegedly using images of John Coltrane, Jimi Hendrix and other musicians in merchandise and for promotional material. This case is the most recent in a bunch of copyright lawsuits where photographers have sued artists like Shepard Fairey and Mr. Brainwash for using their photos for monetary gain without permission. The most famous of these cases was a lawsuit against Shepard Fairey for his Obama “Hope” poster which was based on an AP photograph. Mr Brainwash lost a lawsuit last summer that was quite similar over his use of a famous Run DMC photo.
