Troy NōKA, the singer/songwriter/producer who was once a behind-the-scenes collaborator with Ciara, Chris Brown and Frank Ocean, is stepping into the spotlight himself. Known thus far for his work as producer Antwoine ‘T Wiz’ Collins, he’s joining a long list of artists to step out from behind the boards and into the booth.
Growing up in a military family, Troy NōKA spent time living everywhere from Germany to Texas. It’s no wonder that he draws influence from so many unique places in his music. Getting ready for his solo debut, Free Dreaming (dropping in March) he just released his second single off the album, “Don’t Fall,” which is also his second collaboration with T. Coles. Their first, the starry-eyed anthem “Right Now” samples a portion of the chorus of Kings of Leon’s “Sex On Fire” and as Billboard put it, features “smooth 8o8s, and screeching electric guitars before reaching it’s coda with a beautiful violin crescendo fading into silence.” The five minute black and white video for the track (posted below) samples a beautiful short, “Nuit Blanche,” from filmmaker Arev Manoukian and ends with a simple “fin.”
