Free Ride: NYC DOT Giving Away Free Taxi Rides Today

{image-3} To cut down on drunk driving during the holiday season this year, the NYC Department of Transportation has begun handing out free taxi vouchers and subway rides. This year’s subway giveaway is part of the DOT’s “You the Man” campaign for designated drivers. You can get your free loot beginning tonight in WIlliamsburg and Astoria, where 1,500 debit cards worth $15 and 4,000 single ride metro cards will be passed out. Riders will be able to use the cards for taxi fare, subway rides, PATH, and NJ transit. Taxi debit cards will be vaild from Midnight to Noon on New Year’s Day. Metrocards and vouchers will be distributed at the following times and locations: Tuesday, December 20, 6 pm – Astoria, Queens (Broadway & 31st ) and Williamsburg, Brooklyn (Bedford & North 7th) Thursday, December 22, 5 pm – Bronx Hub (149th street between Grand Concourse and The Hub) Friday, December 23, 5 pm – St. George, Staten Island (St. George Terminal) and Downtown Brooklyn (Fulton Mall) Saturday, December 31, 5 pm – Upper East Side (Second Avenue & 86th) and Harlem (Broadway & 125th), Manhattan See the You the Man website for more information.
