Ocean inspired Vault by Vans x TWOTHIRDS collaboration
This June, Vans partners with TWOTHIRDS to create an eco-conscious collection under premium label, Vault by Vans. Vault by Vans x TWOTHIRDS collaboration is comprised of a four-piece assortment of Vans footwear silhouettes with a sustainable message within each color-up.
Based in Barcelona, TWOTHIRDS’ namesake comes from the notion that two-thirds of our planet is covered by ocean. TWOTHIRDS follows the “cradle-to-cradle” strategy with two product lines: TWOTHIRDS RECYCLED features recycled and recyclable items, and TWOTHIRDS ORGANIC features organic and biodegradable products.
This capsule features three prints handpicked from TWOTHIRDS’ archive of fabrics. Starting with the Sk8-Hi Reissue LX, Vans’ iconic high-top silhouette exhibits the TWOTHIRDS of the Planet is Water pattern on each quarter panel. The top of the Sk8-Hi Reissue LX is a lighter blue, representing sky, and below it, darker blue waves represent the ocean.
The low-top selection includes the TWOTHIRDS Fish Swarm motif, which can be seen on the Authentic LX lace-up as well as the Classic Slip-On LX. The TWOTHIRDS Polka Drops imagery covers the Era LX in an arrangement that features all-over water droplets. Following TWOTHIRDS’ principles, the shoes are made with water-based inks and recycled soles.
Each colorway in this capsule is dedicated to one TWOTHIRDS Sentinel in an effort to generate awareness about the importance of preserving our oceans. A TWOTHIRDS Sentinel is someone who puts their talent and passion to the task of protecting and preserving our oceans.
The Vault by Vans x TWOTHIRDS collaboration is dedicated to National Geographic Society explorer-in-residence Dr. Syliva A. Earle (Sk8-Hi Reissue LX), Danish artist Emil Kozak (Authentic LX), German surf icon Angelo Schmitt (Classic Slip-On LX) and French photographer/marine biologist Cedric Bihr (Era LX).
The Vault by Vans x TWOTHIRDS Collection retails from $75 to $100 USD and releases this June at select Vans boutiques. Learn more about TWOTHIRDS at www.twothirds.com.
