Odd Future Takes Over New York
Prepare yourselves New York City because Odd Future are on their way. Tomorrow night will feature three concerts by members of the west coast collective that are all sure to be “fucking radical.”
Although the OFWGKTA crew has invaded the Big Apple before with their deviant performance antics, this will be the first time that cult hero and junior member of the group Earl Sweatshirt will grace the stage with a full set for the city. Earl and Tyler, The Creator are billed to perform the classics for the first time ever in a show that also features Raekwon and Asher Roth.
The fact that the duo can get The Chef to open for them in his own city speaks to the hype and respect they have earned since Earl was shipped off to Samoa. But he has returned, praise base god, and will undoubtedly deliver the crowd with what they have been wanting since they first heard him lace the track on Kitchen Cutlery. For those fans who have been sleeping tickets are still available here.
The lesser known, but similarly dope, OF group Trash Talk will also be making an appearance tomorrow night, with a free concert for those of you whose pockets is hurt. A word of advice – Don’t show up expecting to hear anything that resembles hip-hop, Trash Talk is all punk all the way, with the chain-smoking hipster crowd to boot.
Finally, for you bastards lucky enough to have copped tickets, Frank Ocean will be playing Terminal 5 on Thursday. The Singer, who has recently made headlines for confessions about his sexuality, will be performing songs off his debut masterpiece Channel Orange, which may just be the album of the year. The show, which has been sold out for some time, is sure to be soulful and intimate, the type of thing fans left waiting outside can only dream of.
So look out New York because on Thursday night the streets will be running wild with hooligan teenagers rocking cats on their shirts, and donuts on their snap backs.
