OG to Young Buck, Slick Rick & F.Stokes at Brooklyn Bowl

By - Monday, January 9th, 2012

12oz checked out Brooklyn Bowl this past Friday to celebrate the 47th birthday of an OG, the legendary Slick Rick. Opening up was newcomer F.Stokes, whose impressive performance just a few weeks prior with Cee Knowledge (Digable Planets) earned him another night to shine. Stokes warmed up the crowd with “Jo Jo Dancer”, “My Simple”, “Soul Clap”, and other singles, and then went on to serenade a lucky lady with “Cold Blooded”. With a live band (The Lifted Crew) backing him up, Slick walked onto the stage rocking an iced-out mic, a handful of his chains and a crisp pair of pink Wallabees. He went through his hits from “The Great Adventures” and “The Ruler’s Back” before being surprised with a birthday cake and cheers from the crowd. Capping off the night, MC Ricky D switched out his black eye patch with a diamond-studded one, right before “Children’s Story”. Be sure to hit up Slick this Saturday for his 47th, Happy Birthday Rick! Text & Photo: Steven Lau
