Opening: City as Canvas

Martin Wong was a prolific Chinese-American artist who made a life-long effort to collect the black book drawings, artist sketches, paintings and other works by many of New York’s most prized writers and street artists. He grew to be a leader and mentor to several artists, most especially LEE, LADY PINK and DAZE. His personal collection was donated to the Museum of City of New York in 1994, shortly before his death in 1999 The exhibition includes work from DAZE, DONDI, FUTURA2000, Keith Haring, Lady Pink, LEE, ZEPHYR, SHARP and many others. The show will not only include original works but also rare black books and photographs. The MCNY exhibition City as Canvas opens February 4th, 2014 and runs through August 24th, 2014.
