Recap: “DISown – Not For Everyone” at RedBull Studios NY

In the art market, artists’ names take on the characteristics of luxury brands and artworks act as high-end retail goods. DISown tests the current status of the art object and presents a new mode for artist production – Agatha Wara.
Examining consumerism, art and fashion, DIS magazine and Agatha Wara present, “DISown – Not For Everyone”, a curated retail environment at Redbull Studios NY. The space is hosting works from over thirty internationally renowned artists and designers including Ryan Trecartin, Jon Rafman, Bjarne Melgaard, Amalia Ulman, Telfar and Hood By Air. Select products in the exhibit are priced at $50-$500, profits to be split between the artist and DIS, which will be used to commission additional products.
On view now through April 6th, 2014 at Redbull Studios NY
Gallery hours are Saturday and Sunday from 12-8 at Red Bull Studios.
