In celebration of yesterday’s Giants victory in the Super Bowl and our effort to bring you all things Giants related, we ended up on the Rebel 8 website. Alright, maybe Mike Giant has got absolutely nothing to do with the New York Giants (at all!) But this guys skills are undeniable. Mike Giant cut his teeth in Albuquerque, New Mexico and for years has called San Francisco home. He was one of the first graffiti writers to have his own website which naturally lead to his work influencing a generation of graffiti writers from all over at the start of the internet era. Some 12oz veterans may also remember the 12ozProphet poster designed by Giant, which was, and still is, friggin awesome!
Mike Giant is widely known today for his tattoo work, illustration, and his clothing company Rebel 8. Or as it’s so accurately put on the Rebel 8 website, “Internationally notorious for surgeon-steady drawings of cute tattooed girls, skulls, and Victorian lace – sometimes all at once. Work is exhibited throughout the world with shows in New York, Paris, Tokyo, Barcelona, London, and Melbourne.” We scrolled through his blog and picked out his graff flicks from over the past year.
