Yesterday on 12ozProphet we posted a story entitled F&@# The Buff: Os Gemeos Mural in Sao Paulo Painted Over where Brazilan street atrists Os Gemeos’ giant mural was painted over. Today we get a better look at the massive piece as well as more insight from Os Gemeos themselves on the reason for the buffing.
“We are currently working outside of Brazil and today received the news about our work on the Vale do Anhangabaú being erased. We knew this was going to happen, this was a project between SESC/Prefeitura de São Paulo/Plasticien Volant and us, realized in 2009 for the “year of France in Brasil”, which was always meant to be temporary since the building was already scheduled to be demolished. It’s truly sad to see the “Stranger” gone…
“However, between the love we have for São Paulo and for art, we’re already considering a new permanent work for the city. We appreciate the love through the messages we received today.” - Os Gemeos
