Photos: Staten Island's Abandoned Tanks

By - Monday, March 19th, 2012

Staten Island is known as the forgotten borough. However, those who do a little exploring can find some amazing graffiti in some of Shaolin’s abandoned spots. 12ozProphet decided to take a trip to “The Tanks” and see for ourselves. The tanks have been abandoned for about thirty years. They were built to safely hold liquified natural gas, but due to widespread public concern, the project was scrapped. However, the Tanks have remained a popular graffiti spot during the years thanks to their unique terrain and out of the way location. Scroll down to check out the pictures of some amazing graffiti serving to beautify this decaying and forgotten area. Text and Photo: Nadia
