ABMB: Recap – Pistonhead
The Piston head exhibit brings Art Basel together with America’s love for the automobile. In this first of its kind event 14 art enhanced cars are brought together in an art exhibit like no other, set to take place in a parking garage on Lincoln Road (,upon further investigation its the nicest garage I have ever seen.) Artists featured in the collection include Keith Haring, Richard Phillips, Tom Sachs, Kenny Scharpf and more. The show is sponsored by Ferarri and also includes a recently finished collaboration featuring Los Angeles artist Joshua Callaghan and his designs on the newly unveiled LaFerrari hybrid.
Vehicles to be featured in the exhibit range from a 63 Buick to a 1970 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow to a newly designer Dodge Challenger and the Ferrari mentioned above and many more. The Piston Head exhibit was created and conceptualized by long time art and car collector Adam Lindemann. The New York based collector was trying to bring a unique subject matter to Art Basel that he believed would have mass appeal, he decided that his and America’s love for the automobile was the perfect fit. The show run until December 8th and will benefit the Art Production Fund which aims at bringing new audiences and expanding awareness to public art projects and About Venus over Manhattan, Lindemann’s own charity that help curate new exhibitions in non conventional settings.
