Tomorrow Evan Hecox‘s Dark Island exhibition opens at Joshua Liner Gallery in Chelsea. The Denver-based artist will present a new series of work in what will be his second solo exhibition at the gallery. Hecox used acrylic and gouache on vintage newspaper and was inspired by his recent excursions throughout lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. The subject matter, muted palette, and precisionist style are reminiscent of American Modernist painters such as Charles Scheeler. Scroll down to check out a preview of some of the paintings in the show which opens tomorrow from 6-9pm and will be up through June 23rd, 2012.
