Preview: Poesia “More Force Than Judgment” at Anno Domini Gallery opens TONIGHT
This article was posted by Daniel Feral 1 year, 2 weeks, 22 hours, 33 minutes ago.
A painting in progress in the studio next to some tags.
Jesus and Frank in the studio, sitting in front of Frank's library, which Poesia used while studying up on Renaissance art.
Jesus and Frank's latest canvases and drawings on display. A jovial comparison with Rivera, Oroszco and Siqueiros (the three great muralists of Mexico) has been made by dubbing Poesia, Frank and Jesus "Los Tres Grandes" of San Jose.
Like Poesia, Dale Vn Marshall is also involved with the Graffuturist movement. He coincidentally has a show running concurrently at the gallery that opened a few weeks ago. He is a master painter with a graffiti background.
Dale explores a mix of graffiti and expressionism. This painting may look like a landscape but it is actually based on the letterforms of a wildstyle burner.
In the dark, after a long night spent on the installation, the shape of the gallery marquee becomes a facade of a greek temple sitting atop two fluted columns, which is a fitting hallucination historicizing the art in the gallery.
