Preview: Priest at Mecka Gallery

By - Thursday, February 6th, 2014

New Orleans based street artist Priest recently arrived in the city to prepare for his upcoming solo show at Mecka Gallery in East Williamsburg. We stopped by as they were setting up for the show. He was busy cutting stencils for new street pieces while the gallery staff was arranging and hanging the work. Later in the night we took a field trip and watched as he hit up the whole side a box truck out in the streets. Priest typically uses stencil as his medium and his topics often touch on political incorrectness. Mecka Gallery is located at 65 Meadow Street and the show opens this Saturday night to the public from 6-9. Be sure to get there early as the first few people in line will receive a complimentary original piece by the artist while the following 50 in line will be rewarded with a spray can signed by Priest. This will be the second show at the recently opened gallery and if the turnout from the first show displaying work by Rene Gagnon is any indication of success then expect a packed house.
