Preview: "Rouge" Summer Group Exhibition in LA
Katherine Cone Gallery in Los Angeles, California will be presenting a summer group exhibition entitled Rouge from July 20th-August 24th, 2013 with an opening reception to take place on Saturday July 20th from 6-9pm.
Inspired by recent travels to Paris, the summer group exhibition will feature original works of art in the color red. Renowned artists showing in the exhibition will include Edith Baumann, Sean Cheetham, John Eden, EL MAC, Shepard Fairey, John Van Hamersveld, Brad Howe, Eric Pedersen, DeWain Valentine, and Suzan Woodruff.
As red is a color generally associated with passion, fire, beauty, danger, sacrifice, anger, and sometimes even happiness, it can be used to symbolize many different sensations, emotions, and events. The color red carries such a powerful energy with it that Katherine Cone Gallery has decided to base an entire summer group exhibition around it. Each of the ten artists in the exhibition has defined in his or her own context what the color red signifies. If you’re in the LA area, head on over to Katherine Cone Gallery at 2673 South La Cienega Blvd at 6pm on July 20th to meet the artists and celebrate the color rouge.
