Preview: Stanley Kubrick Closing Party at LACMA
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art ( LACMA) is holding a closing party for Stanley Kubrick’s exhibition on Saturday, June 22nd at 8pm. The exhibition includes work from all periods of Kubrick’s artistic career, from his early Look magazine photographs of the 1940’s to his work as a director from the 1950’s to the 1990’s. The exhibition also provides insight into two of Kubrick’s unfinished projects, Napoleon and The Aryan Papers.
As LACMA is committed to investigating the boundaries between art and film and how the two mediums have intersected in the 20th century and beyond, they are the first to host a retrospective exhibition of Stanley Kubrick’s work in a museum setting. The closing party offers visitors an opportunity to experience this critically acclaimed exhibit before its too late, while offering many unique benefits as well. The closing party will be an exclusive “after hours” party to be held from 8-11pm, after regular exhibition hours. Guests will also have the opportunity to partake in a Stanley Kubrick Scavenger Hunt for the chance to win a Stanley Kubrick Essential Collection DVD box set. Furthermore, guests will be able to enjoy an outdoor cocktail lounge and “haute dogs,” Kubrick-themed hot dogs available for one night only. Finally, DJ Marion Hodges of KCRW will be spinning music drawn from and inspired by the themes of Kubricks films until 10pm.
