Preview: Succulent Studios – Palabra ExhibitFollowing up on last months inaugural show at Succulent Studios which saw a packed house and a raging party that lasted well into the night, the gallery is holding their second event, Palabra, which opens to the public on Saturday, May 17th at 7PM.
While the first show involved over 30 artists, this time around they’ve narrowed it down to seven. Each of the artists has been given their own section of the gallery and they’ve been busy transforming the space and constructing varying installation pieces from teepees, to boats, to cubes.
We passed through earlier in the week while the construction was still in the early stages but from the looks of it there is big expectation and the pieces will cover lots of different medium. Rubin, who just finished a massive wall at the defunct Domino Sugar Factory with Hellbent and Aakash Nihalani, is creating a cube measuring over 8′ per side.
Beau Stanton continues with his nautical theme and has constructed a boat. Scroll down for some of the in-progress shots by the remaining artists including El Sol 25, Sek3, Iena Cruz, S. Rose and Michael Alan. The gallery is located along the Greenpoint Waterfront at 67 West Street, Room 522. Text and photos by Spencer Elzey
