Recap: Beyond the horizon, Wall Therapy 2013 part 1
Just got back from participating in Wall Therapy 2013 up in Rochester, New York. For those that don’t know, Wall Therapy is the brain child of Dr. Ian Wilson , a radiologist based in Rochester. The idea behind this ambitious program is to use mural works around Rochester, New York as a vehicle for both inspiration and rehabilitation. Many of the works this year were designed to bring attention to areas that people don’t normally frequent. This year’s international line up brought artists from countries as diverse as Brazil, South Africa, Kenya, The United Kingdom, Argentina, and Canada.
I had a great time painting there thanks to Dr. Wilson, his partner Erik, and the many people who volunteered their time and energies to the project. As a whole, I found the people of Rochester on a daily basis so nice it was almost disarming. Local artists like Change, Bile, Monci, Mr. Prvrt, and Leah were incredibly welcoming to visitors to their city. Working on this project was a positive experience in that I really felt like I was making a contribution to the city. Wall therapy has put Rochester on the map as a destination site for great murals.
