Recap: Boo Johnson x Supra Mtn Dew Green Label Launch Event
The Supra NYC store may be architecturally small, but it sure can hold a lot of energy.
The Soho shop hosted a launch party for the release of the Boo Amigo, a new sneaker that the brand collaborated on with pro skater Boo Johnson for Mtn Dew’s Green Label.
On hand at the event was none other than the skater himself, accompanied by one of his Supra teammates, Keelan Dadd. The California natives have had a whirlwind of an NYC trip, but graciously took the time to pose for countless photos and shake the hands of eager pre-pubescent skate rats waiting outside. Yes, Johnson is a pro-athlete, but young skaters have other reasons to look up to him: Johnson’s easy-going and understated demeanor gives him the presence of someone far older than 19.
DJ-ing the event was New York’s own Phony Ppl, a songwriting and rap collective based in Brooklyn. Remixing everything from old-school Luda to A$AP’s latest, the crew had onlookers head-bobbing and dancing the entire night – even the ones outside who were staring longingly through the store’s all-glass façade, hoping to get in on the action. Phony Ppl’s infectious performance caused both the crowd and the store to pulse, not with volume, but with an energy and passion that can hardly be described.
This environment created the perfect platform for the shoe’s launch, attracting both sneakerheads and music lovers, skaters and musicians.
Check out photos of the event above and be on the lookout for the shoe’s Brick Harbor release on December 13th.
