Recap: Jim Joe "Yes 1 2" at The Hole presented by New York Art Department

By - Monday, June 4th, 2012

Only appearing like last years Winter snow, you might have missed it if you blinked, Jim Joe’s solo debut Yes 1 2 was up over the weekend at The Hole Gallery on the Bowery presented by the New York Art Department. Jim Joe had new work on display from austere installations to elementary freehand portraits. A straightforward lucid and naked feel, an analogue to the often comical, societal-judgement-street-poetics he scrawls around the city were unmistakable. It was a successful show, and despite what some would say about his quick transition to the gallery, it was refreshing to see a relatively prolific (albeit new) writer offering up something other than what we’ve become accustomed to seeing in the street.
