Recap: Kembra Pfahler and E.V. Day "Giverny" at The Hole Gallery

By - Thursday, April 5th, 2012

The Hole Gallery opened Kembra Pfahler and E.V. Day’s collaborative exhibition Giverny to a packed house last friday. The impressive show transformed the white wall gallery into a recreation of Claude Monet’s gardens in Giverny, where E.V. Day stayed during her Munn Artist Residency. With the help of Playboy’s sponsorship, the gallery was wallpapered with scenic imagery and filled with a pond full of lilies, willows, and bamboo, making for a perfect back drop for Kembra Pfahler’s photos taken while visiting E.V. Day in Giverny. The atmosphere at the opening was reminiscent of those at Deitch Projects, where Kathy Grayson, Director of The Hole, cut her teeth. Both artists in the show were formerly represented by Jeffrey Deitch who was in town from LA and in attendance at the opening. This exhibition is incredible, eye opening, and definitely one not to miss. Giverny is at The Hole located at 312 Bowery through April 24th, 2012. Photos: Marcos Enrique
