I Festival de murals de La Escocesa took place in the neighborhood of Poble Nou, Barcelona. The venue, A former industrial complex that once produced chemicals for the textile industry,was taken over in 1999 by artists seeking studio space. By 2008, the city council gave over management of the space to the artists. As a center artistic production, La Escocesa offers resident artists spaces and services at affordable prices, thereby facilitating their professional development. The festival took place at the end of November and was co-sponsored by MTN. Featured artists included Liquen, Miss Van, Grito, Patrick Evoke, Alexa Hatanaka, Eme, Labuenaylamala, San, La Mano, and Tizne.
