RECAP: Writing On Metal 3
Curated by Dark Mass and brought to you by All The Right & Goodthings Skateshop, “Writing On Metal” is an Art & Music festival conceived 3 years ago for the purposes of creating NYCs only interactive Gallery comprised of art submissions from all underground artists willing to participate. Metal “NYC” street signs were chosen as the medium for artists to transform, as a way to remind the art world that the “street” is the true origin for the culture of graffiti, not the curated canvas. This public “street gallery” opened the door for a wide range of diverse artists to exchange ideas, collaborate, network, and foremost appreciate each others creativity in a non-curated and friendly environment. Raw. Submissions were collected at the door for display.
Hosted at The Paper Box, 12 amazing hardcore bands played while artists scrawled on rusted metal and a roll down gate created solely for the event. The place was jumpin’ and we moshed all night through the front stage and the stage out back. The gallery was full of amazing work of various pieces of metal and snagged traffic signs. We really can’t wait for Writing on Metal 4!
