Recap: Zulu Nation 38th Anniversary, Part 2

By - Monday, November 14th, 2011

The Zulu Nation wasn’t quite done celebrating their 38th Anniversary last Wednesday, returning to Le Poisson Rouge Saturday night to continue the festivities. Credited as the founder of the Universal Zulu Nation, South Bronx DJ Afrika Bambaataa was on deck along with Duck Down’s Statik Selektah, dropping joints that kept the crowd keyed up. It was all love between Zulu breakers and b-boys, who rocked the house until 4 in the morning. Bambaataa, who spun from a booth overlooking the crowd, was clearly proud of the hip hop movement he started 38 years ago. Till next year! Text and Photo: Steven Lau
