Preview: “Relics of the New World” at Cassel Gallery in San Francisco

This article was posted by Rise4Art 9 months, 2 days, 19 hours, 3 minutes ago.

Beer bottle tops and dime bags, the discards of modern consumption cerimonies, studs and spikes, remnants of arms and amour in modern fashion, are reappropriated and presented in the manner of indigenous cultures from times past. Relics of the New World at Cassel Gallery gives us tribal headdresses and weaponry from Lucien Shapiro and Charlie O’Hanlon, coupled with shadowy paintings from famed tattoo artists Lango Oliveira and Henry Lewis.
