Last week, Instagram exploded with some exciting news. The elusive graffiti writer REVS put up one of his first roller pieces in years.

It looks like the work was a legal project as there were many flood lights set up while REVS was doing his work. It looks like it was a collaboration with the industrial music and performance art group Missing Foundation. Nevertheless, what a time, what a time…

For those that don’t know, REVS is one of the most prolific graffiti writers to come out of New York City. REVS and his partner COST took over in the 1990s with their rollers and wheatpasted slogans throughout the city. After his partner COST got bagged in 1995, REVS began to hit the tunnels with his rollers. REVS didn’t just the tag the tunnels but wrote his autobiography inside them. When caught in 2000, REVS said he was only 35 tunnels short of hitting every subway tunnel in NYC.

Since then, REVS has been mostly underground. A tag or two has been seen around the city but nothing as large scale as his roller piece last week. However, he has been making some crazy sculpture tags around the city.

12oz was overjoyed to see the return of this legend. Welcome back REVS.
