Zephyr and Revolt

Legendary photographer Ricky Powell first made a name for himself photographing the biggest names in hip hop, graffiti, and pop culture in the 80’s. Powell’s career as a photographer began by touring with the Beastie Boys who he became so close with he’s been regarded as their fourth member. He is still a staple on the scene, armed with a larger than life personality, camera, and antics which bring out the best in everyone.

Even after crossing the half-century mark he hasn’t slowed down one bit. This latest exhibition “Oh No He Didn’t!” opening Friday at Klughaus Gallery in New York is presented by Memes, who collaborated with the artist on a limited edition t-shirt available exclusively at the show. The exhibition will feature 15 works from throughout Powell’s career, punctuated by some of his most iconic photographs. Scroll down to preview some of the works in the show.
