Saber And Zeser Paint Downtown LA

“Basically We’re just trying to leave this legacy behind, something that created for all these years”

Saber and Zeser are two names that have become synonymous with LA graffiti with their expressive and angular styles sinking firmly into the cities history. In this new video “Perseverance” they come together to paint a new mural in the burgeoning ‘Artists District’ of downtown LA, covering the entire side of a building with a collaboration that perfectly blends perfectly each others work.

From the outside graffiti culture is one that is often paid lip service to in terms of its worth, with its visual elements appreciated but never properly understood. Multilayered, the execution of the piece pays homage to the history of graffiti in the area whilst its size paves way and gives promise to those working to make their name. It can be seen as a sentence, marking a moment in time that encompasses both past and future events.

Commenting on the billionaires slowly encroaching on the area the mural is situated in, Saber highlights a difficult battle – between an area rich in graffiti history and those wishing purely to capitalise on creativity. I know which side i’m on.
