SEEN IN THE STREETS: HENSE GO'S BIG IN DETROIT

By - Friday, October 3rd, 2014

Atlanta based artist Alex (HENSE) Brewer is no stranger to the motor city. Brewer was also part of The Z Garage project where international artists painted every floor and entrance way of the garage. This time Brewer was called upon by Bedrock Real Estate Services and Library Street Collective Gallery who curated the project, to create this massive six story masterpiece on the side of The Madison Theater Building.

Hense had already pre-selected colors for the wall but only had a rough idea how he was going to lay it out, which seems to be the way he works best. Over the three weeks it took to create this massive piece, Hense and his assistant Peter Pone went through over 100 gallons of paint. Brewers art is not meant to have any type of meaning or representation, but just be abstract. His work is all about lines, color, composition and where its displayed.
