{image-6} Over 50 major artists have contributed pieces for the Art for Tibet III auction going on now. The auction began online on Oct. 7th and will culminate on Oct. 14th at the Joshua Liner Gallery in NYC. This is the 3rd year for the auction and features both TIbetan and international artists such as Shepard Fairey, Richard Gere, Pema Rinzin, Ryan McGinness, Tenzing Rigdol, Swoon, Gonkar Gyatso, and The Sucklord. The goal of the auction is to raise awareness of the persecution of Tibetan artists s by the Chinese government in Tibet. All proceeds benefit Students for a Free Tibet. “Art for Tibet aims to expose the persecution Tibetan artists and intellectuals face under China’s occupation. At the same time, it is a celebration of their defiance and commitment to free expression in spite of the Chinese government’s severe repression and censorship,” said Tenzin Dorjee, Executive Director of Students for a Free Tibet. Come out to the silent auction at Joshua Liner Gallery on Oct. 14th. DJ Spirit Bear will supplying the music, Beerlao supplying the drinks. There will also be live painting demonstrations to accompany the low-starting-bid silent auction. Pre-bid online today!
